Apple Crisp

3 large cooking apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine
3/4 cup rolled oats

Arrange sliced apples in buttered 9-inch round baking dish. Combine brown sugar and flour; cut butter into mixture as for pastry. Toss in rolled oats. Spoon over apples, pressing down lightly. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes at 350 degrees F.

NOTE: 1 quart home canned or 2 cans (1 lb. each) canned apple slices may be used in place of fresh apples.

PEACH CRISP:
Slice 3 large fresh peaches or thoroughly drain 1 quart or 1 can (29 oz.) sliced peaches. Place in baking dish, sprinkle with lemon juice and top with above flour-butter mixture. Bake as directed.
